Free book review: submit your manuscript

Book publishing services, from editing to launch

Eight services that take a book from manuscript to launch, for first-time and experienced authors alike. You don't need to know which ones you need before you start: submit your manuscript for a free book review, and we'll recommend what your book needs and explain why.

The review is free, with no obligation. Prefer to call? Ring +44 7456 061335 or WhatsApp (opens in a new tab).

Where is your book today?

You have an idea

If the book isn't written yet, book writing can include planning, manuscript development and ghostwriting. Tell us what you're hoping to create.

Ask about book writing

Make the book

Writing and editing.

Book writing

Your story, written in your voice.

Ghostwriting and manuscript development for memoir, non-fiction and fiction. We do the writing with you; the book is about your life, your knowledge or your story, and it should sound like you.

Tell us what you have in mind. There's no obligation. Prefer to talk first? Call or WhatsApp (opens in a new tab).

What's included in book writing

  • GhostwritingWe interview you, research, outline and write the manuscript. You review each chapter. Who is credited, and who owns the finished text, is agreed in writing before we start.
  • Manuscript developmentYou have a draft, or half of one, and want a writing partner. We help shape the structure, fill the gaps and bring the writing up to a publishable standard with you.
  • Book planningA chapter-by-chapter outline, a clear reader and a clear promise, before a word of the manuscript is written.

Book editing

Editing that keeps your voice and sharpens everything else.

Developmental, copy and proof editing for fiction and non-fiction, plus an Alpha Reader Review with comments through the manuscript. Not every book needs every stage. After your free book review, we'll recommend which stage to start with, and explain why.

Send the whole manuscript, or at least the first three chapters. The review is free, with no obligation. Prefer to talk first? Call or WhatsApp (opens in a new tab).

What's included in book editing

  • Developmental editingAn editor's assessment of the big picture (structure, pacing, character, argument and whether the book delivers what it promises), with recommendations for you to act on.
  • Copy-editingLine by line: clarity, consistency, grammar, repetition and style, with a style sheet so that later changes stay consistent.
  • ProofreadingThe final check on the typeset pages, for the typos, gaps and layout slips that get through every earlier stage.
  • Alpha Reader ReviewA reader's-eye review of your manuscript with inline comments on what works and what doesn't. It goes much deeper than the free book review, and it is priced separately.

What's included in an assisted book launch

  • ISBN and imprintYou can publish with an ISBN registered to your own imprint, or with ours. If we use ours, we're listed as the publisher in the book's metadata, but that gives us no rights in your book. We'll explain the options before anything is set up.
  • MetadataTitle, subtitle, description, categories and keywords, written so that readers searching for books like yours can find yours.
  • Publication and distribution set-upWe help set up your book's listings in your own distribution accounts and check the eBook, paperback and hardback editions before they go live. Those accounts can make your book available to potentially more than 50 retailers, wholesalers and bookshops, including Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, Gardners, Waterstones and Blackwell's.
  • Legal deposit and launch checksHelp with legal deposit copies for UK print editions, proof copy checks and release-date planning.

Tell us about your book, and we'll tell you what we think it needs

You don't have to choose services before you talk to us. Submit your manuscript for a free book review and we'll send you our feedback.

If we're a good fit, we'll recommend a publishing roadmap: the services we'd suggest, in what order, and why. Nothing goes ahead until you've approved it, and you'll see a written quote and the service agreement before you commit. Our services are paid for; the review is not.

Questions about our services

Do I need every service?

No. Your roadmap depends on your book and what you want from it. After the free review, we'll recommend what your book needs and why, and you decide what goes ahead.

Which kind of edit does my book need?

It depends on where the draft is. A developmental edit looks at the big picture: structure, pacing, character or argument. A copy-edit works line by line on clarity, consistency and style. Proofreading is the last check, once the pages are laid out. Our guide Which kind of edit does my book need? explains the difference in more detail.

Can you write my book for me?

We can help with ghostwriting, manuscript development and planning. Tell us what you have in mind through the enquiry form, and we'll talk it through.

Will the free review tell me which services I need?

It tells you where your book stands and what it needs next. If we're a good fit, we follow it with a recommended roadmap that names the services and explains why. For a detailed read with comments through the manuscript, an Alpha Reader Review is available as a separate service.
